Running has become a regular part of my life for almost two years now. As someone who was never a great runner, it was a difficult start for me. I needed to take a break very early on in every session. However, with perseverance and determination, I was able to run longer distances over time. When I run, my mind tends to drift and focus on several key points.
✊Perseverance
Perseverance is essential. It is important to keep moving forward step by step. It may be difficult at first, but every step you take gets you closer to your goal. When I initially began running, I could not even imagine running for 10 minutes straight, let alone for an hour. However, I persisted and now I can run for hours without stopping. Running has taught me that if you keep moving, you will get there eventually.
⛰️Enjoy surroundings
While running, I love to take in the surrounding scenery. Whether it's the trees, hills, street art, or architecture, I always try to appreciate the beauty of what's around me. It makes me happy, helps me relax and takes my mind off the pain and exhaustion of running.
🏆Breakthrough
Setting records is always an exciting challenge. Every time I reach a new record, I feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. It feels great to run a longer distance than before or to run a speedier pace. It is incredibly gratifying to see progress, whether that progress is in distance or speed. Breaking a record can provide a sense of achievement, build confidence, and help to motivate you to set and achieve even more ambitious goals in the future.
🧠Clear head
Running clears out my mind. When I am running, I leave behind all the stress, anger, and frustration of the day. Running allows me to free my mind of any worries and get lost in the moment. It is a great way to meditate, concentrate and focus on myself. Running in nature has a lot to do with this. When I'm surrounded by greenery, fresh air, and the sounds of birds chirping, my mind naturally wanders to peaceful thoughts. The act of running itself also helps to clear my head. The repetition of steps and the rhythm of breathing can be almost hypnotic. When I clear my mind through running, it puts me in a better mental space. I find that it helps me think more clearly and approach problems with a fresh perspective. It puts me into a calmer state of mind that often helps me to be more productive once I get back to work or other tasks. One benefit of running for me is that it helps me to think deeply about personal issues or challenges that I'm facing. Running gives me the opportunity to take some time to myself and focus on these issues without any other distractions. That being said, this mental clarity doesn't come instantly. It takes time and consistent effort to reach a state of mindfulness. The more frequently I run, the easier I find it is to clear my mind. I have to make a conscious effort in the beginning to let go of negative thoughts or distractions. However, as I keep putting one foot in front of the other, I eventually reach a state of mental clarity.
⚡️Boost of energy
The last point I often think about when I run is the boost of energy I get afterward. When I first started running, I used to be incredibly tired and lethargic. However, after training for some time, I feel an incredible surge of positive energy after every run. It clears my mind, allowing me to think more clearly and be productive for the rest of the day. This energy boost is not just a physical feeling, but a mental one too. During a run, our body releases endorphins, which are natural painkillers that can give us a feeling of euphoria. This feeling can last for several hours after the run, which can help us to stay alert, focused, and energized. I find that this burst of energy after my run helps me to be more productive and active throughout the day. Rather than feeling tired and sluggish, as I did when I first started running, I now feel alert and motivated. I'm able to tackle tasks with greater clarity and focus. It's almost like a natural caffeine boost! The sense of accomplishment that comes after completing a run provides an instant boost of energy as well. By pushing myself to run further or faster, I feel a strong sense of pride and achievement. This has the added benefit of giving me a more positive outlook on the day ahead.
Whether it's the rush of endorphins, the feeling of accomplishment, or improved fitness, this burst of energy can help us to be more focused, productive, and positive. It's a great way to start the day or to keep us going in the afternoon.
